Selfie: I'm taking photos of myself, therefore I am! ~René Descartes

Well obviously the quote isn’t fake before you go saying such nonsense.

Wherever you look, you will surely notice someone taking a selfie. Its primary purpose is to highlight a person's prettiest face angle or body. Of course, it’s ultimate goal is the gathering of as many likes and positive comments as possible. Opinions are shared and some arise from the view that selfie is evidence of generational narcissism and moral degradation, and for others only the side effect of technology enabled self exploration. Both sides are probably correct.

Selfies are the expression of a lack of self eSteem and a cry for attention. They often provoke addiction to publishing online, promoting excessive narcissism and destroy self confidence in the event of a low number of likes or “mean” comments.

With the number of likes generated by their posts, a weird sense of happiness grows, and they are satisfied only if the positive responses are numerous, all of which leads to a state of short term happiness based on the attention generated by the selfie. It is an addiction and a severe mental illness.

The influence of social networks and celebrities in today's society has become such, that more and more young people are striving for the ideals set by celebrities and the beauty industry. Young people are increasingly dissatisfied with their appearance, which is increasingly affecting their psychological state and well being. And in a long run this creates the need for more selfies, more likes and more narcissism! It needs to stop and it needs to stop now.

But hey that’s just me thinking.. what do you think? Tell me your thoughts! Comment now.
